THE SEVEN

"This book is absolutely one of the best books in the [Young Adult] genre I've read this year, period...truly a refreshing excursion out of the norm."  --Maggie Desmond-O'Brien, Reader Views Kids

"Little is a deft writer, seamlessly blending fast-paced action with engaging dialogue and complementary descriptions...[The Seven is] a terrific sci-fi action story."  --Kirkus Discoveries

"A teen action novel that hits a home-run and should have readers hoping that the author brings out a sequel!"  --Bill Alberts, FeatheredQuill

A 5-Star Gold Award Winner on Teens Read Too!  The Seven has been admitted to the TRT Hall of Fame!

After his first novel, The Centurion: The Balance of the Soul War, generated good reviews and brisk sales (despite being a print-on-demand title marketed solely by the author through the internet and a few book fairs), Sean Patrick Little strikes again this time with The Seven, a superhero origins novel geared for the young adult market.  Little brings his gift for writing action sequences and his love for comic books to this story that is certain to engage readers.  Though it is classified as Young Adult, the action and vivid writing will have adults enjoying it as well.
In the new book, a shadowy, underground, anti-America paramilitary group called the Trust has pooled its resources and contracted a brilliant geneticist to force the next step in human evolution.  The doctor, unaware of the group’s true purposes, chooses seven children from a bank of DNA profiles and has them brought to “the Home,” the name the kids give to the laboratory where they are raised.  Through their adolescences, they are subjected to gene splicing, chemical enhancements, mechanical and biological implants, and rigorous testing.  When Posey, who was treated with avian DNA, begins a massive physical change, the other six teenagers realize that their time with the Home is coming to an end and decide to steal Posey and run.
Led by John, a genetically enhanced “super-soldier,” the seven make their break from the Home, but Sarah (who can run faster than the speed of sound) is captured and taken to a hidden military installation.  The others have to rescue her and shut down the base so the Trust can’t continue with its plans to take down the U.S. Government in a military coup using the incredible powers of the genetically altered teenagers.  As each of the seven comes to terms with his or her powers, they make a final, epic stand against base commander General Tucker and the Trust.
Little began his college career majoring in Illustration so he could pursue his dreams of drawing comic books, but switched to English and journalism when he learned that his abilities with words far outweighed his abilities with a pencil.  He writes with a keen knack for action, his love for the comic book genre clearly coming through in his prose.  Combining intense action, teenage angst, superheroes, and a storyline worthy of film or graphic novels, The Seven is an exciting thrill ride readers will not want to end.

In 1943, Jerald C. McIntire is supposed to die in a grenade explosion in the Ardennes forest in World War II. He miraculously survives, but from that point on Jerry no longer needs to eat or sleep, he has no emotions, and he never ages. After several suicide attempts, Jerry discovers he can’t die. But how is this possible?

Nearly twenty years after his first brush with death, Jerry learns that he somehow broke the realm of the natural order. Even God Himself isn’t sure how it happened, but Jerry is the only man ever born without a soul. The archangel Michael informs him that in the Soul War, good and evil are bound by certain laws and honor checks. Jerry, however, is bound by nothing and can therefore serve as the Master’s Centurion—an agent of God bestowed with the name Jericho.

Jericho roams the streets of New York City, keeping order between the agents of Heaven and Hell, the angelus and the demonata. When a rogue deity, an ancient Hittite dragon god, comes to Earth and begins preying on both angels and demons, Jericho must step in to maintain the balance. But he stumbles into a much larger plot—one that threatens to irreparably damage the Balance of the Soul War and end all things.

"...like a cross between Paradise Lost and Dungeons and Dragons."                                                                                               --Kirkus Discoveries
